About the only thing we know about Rowland Clarke is that he took a lease out in Uffington, Shropshire, in 1596. He is mentioned on a pedigree held in the Shropshire Archives and the family arms are listed as
Quarterly, 1st and 4th azure, 3 escallop shells in pale or between two flaunches ermine and on a chief argent 3 lions rampant-guardant of the fields, 2nd and 3rd azure a garb or Grosvenor (Clarke of Hyde, co. Chester)
Evidentally there are some clues here for further investigation.
