Green
Chainmakers

The Green Family
This family were from the “black country”, specifically the Walsall & Bloxwich area. We think that back in the nineteenth century this family were Catholics. Our eldest ancestor in this line is William Green and the story starts with him here.

William Green
There were many Greens in Bloxwich at this time, but I have not been able to identify William's birth or baptism there. Neither have I located his marriage to Sarah.

James Green
A chainmaker, born & baptised in Bloxwich, Staffs., in 1812. He was the son of William Green & Sarah. To see the sort of equipment used by a chainmaker see here. James later married Sarah (maiden name unknown) sometime prior to 1852.

Sarah Green
My ancestor Sarah Green was born in Birmingham in about 1852, the      daughter of James Green & Sarah. She later married Edward Powers, a bricklayer.
