The Gravenor Family of Shropshire The Gravenor family married into the Botevyle family and also the Clarke family and my line therefore goes through the distaff side. Some of the other Gravenor family lines still having living descendants today - some of whom have made contact with me. We have done very little research on this line, but we suspect the Shropshire Gravenors are related to the Cheshire Grosvenors. Our ancestor Elizabeth Gravenor had a sister Martha Gravenor born in High Ercall, Shropshire, in 1688.

Elizabeth Gravenor married Richard Botevyle who gave Elizabeth a grandson, also called Richard Botevyle. At the same time Martha Gravenor married Richard Clarke who gave Martha a granddaughter called Martha Clarke (see Clarke family). In Montford, Shropshire, in 1726 Richard Botevyle married Martha Clarke thereby linking these three families by marriage. |
